Dominica, A small island in the Caribbean has faced many a storm. But it seems like the storm which is being faced by the country is trying to ruin the environment of the nature island, that storm is the ‘political hurricane’ that is trying to devastate the nation.

Just like most of the islands in the Caribbean, tourism plays a significant role in Dominica. However, with the lack of presence of hotels and tourist places, it struggles to attract travellers from around the world.

Countries like Barbados, St. Martin and other Caribbean islands have a better development which makes them a centre of attraction for the people who wish to spend a good amount of money to have a decent holiday in the heart of the Caribbean Sea.

To develop the country and also to attract tourists along with providing employment to the locals, the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has taken the support of the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programme. The programme is helping the island in achieving its developmental goals such as the construction of new five star hotels with amazing facilities and building houses for those who became homeless because of the hurricanes.

Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit has managed to develop his vision in the country by constructions of hotels like Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski are on track.

But, the leader of the opposition has given an outrageous statement. On Tuesday morning, leader of United Workers Party (UWP) Lennox Linton was live on Q95 FM to speak against the policies of the current Dominica Labour Party government. During his address, Linton condemned the government for building hotels.

He said, “we have a building at cabrits but hotels cannot be refurbished after the storm because they cannot get the insurance money, evergreen, Number of hotel properties function well before the storm have gone out of business after the storm and have not been able to come back.” Following the statement of opposition leader, a local resident expressed his view on the same , “It is shattering to hear a leader speak such anti-developmental language, these kinds of statements will discourage constructors in investing in the country and people of Dominica will have to face the consequences in case investments stop due to the fear of numerous storms. The country still has people living on it despite the natural catastrophesInstead of doing politics these leaders need to talk about issues of generating employment and constructing new things so the people of Dominica get to live a better life.”
