St Kitts and Nevis: 17-year-old arrested after shooting death in St Paul’s

A 17-year-old boy has been taken into custody in relation to the shooting of three people in St Kitts and Nevis.

One of the victims of the attack in Rawlins Ground, St Paul’s, died while the others sustained injuries.

The incident, which happened around midday on 6 June, was the federation’s fourth murder in as many days.

The suspect, who has not been named, has been formally charged with one count of murder, as well as two counts of attempted murder.

The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force have described him as a “17-year-old make juvenile from the western area of St Kitts”.

'Senseless violence'

Assistant Commissioner of Police Andre Mitchell, head of the Crime Directorate, said: “This is a most unfortunate situation for all concerned.”

“It is time for us to take stock in our homes and communities. Today two families are grieving... Let us make a concerted effort to stop this senseless violence."
