Saint Lucian sprinter Julien Alfred wins 60m dash in 6.09s at Millrose Games
According to the reports, the 22-year-old athlete won the 60m dash by clocking a Season's Best (SB) and Meet Record time of 6.99 seconds. She beat Shashalee Forbes, who came 2nd in 7.14s, while Destiny Smith-Barnett came 3rd in 7.16s.

A well-renowned Saint Lucian sprinter, Julien Alfred, continues to achieve huge achievements with a stunning performance at the 2024 Millrose Games in New York.
According to the reports, the 22-year-old athlete won the 60m dash by clocking a Season's Best (SB) and Meet Record time of 6.99 seconds. She beat Shashalee Forbes, who came 2nd in 7.14s, while Destiny Smith-Barnett came 3rd in 7.16s.
The recent achievement of Alfred has surpassed the previous world leading time of 7.01 seconds which was set in Poland by Ewa Swobodo on February 6.Julien Alfred continues to take the country's name to new heights with new achievements in every event she participates in.
Her performance in New York not only secured the victory but also set a new meet and facility record, which strengthened her position as one of the premier female sprinters on the world stage.
Notably, this is not the first time that she has made headlines with her exceptional speed. In 2023, she became the first woman to break the 7-second barrier during the indoor 60m dash at her final NCAA campaign.
On Sunday, Alfred showed her dominance by defeating all other players, including Shashalee Forbes of Jamaica, who finished as the runner-up but couldn't keep pace with her and crossed the finish line at 7.14 seconds.Following her achievement, the leaders and citizens of Saint Lucia flooded social media with congratulatory messages and wished her luck for future endeavours.

Prime Minister Philip J Pierre said, "As we countdown to Independence 45, Julien Alfred continues to inspire us as Saint Lucians. Join me in congratulating Ms. Alfred on her latest win, 6.99 seconds in the 60M at Millrose Games, breaking the record of 7.00 seconds set in 1994."
