The Caribbean is the world's most exotic tourist site. People from across the world come here to enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches, blue sea waters, culture and food. The island countries in the region are no less than the scenes from some movies.  Even though the countries are relatively smaller than some of the cities in the United States, but the islands have so much to offer. The different and interesting things that you find in the Caribbean are nowhere to be seen or found.  Here are some of the most interesting facts about the Caribbean region that foreigners find very interesting; 
  1. Smallest Commercial Airline Runway: The island of Saba has one of the smallest commercial airline runways in the world; it is only 400 meters long and is flanked by water. The runway is situated on the Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport on Saba, which is under the Netherlands.
  2. Barbados is the only foreign country ever visited by George Washington: As per reports, George Washington visited only one foreign country outside the United States. He visited Barbados with his half brother to cure his Tuberculosis. But, sadly, George himself contracted smallpox during his visit and fell ill.
  3. Trinidad and Tobago is home to the world's hottest chile peppers in the world:  Known to be one of the hottest chile pepper, Moruga Scorpion is a native to Trinidad and Tobago. It recorded 1.2 million Scoville heat units on the Scoville Scale.
  4. Cayman Island's has more companies registered than its entire population: The Caymans had a population of only 65,813 in 209, while the country had over 100,000 companies registered in 2016, which is much higher than it should be.
  5. More than 75% of the population lives on just three islands: As per the 2019 mid-year population count by the United Nations, more than 33 million residents of the Caribbean out of its 44 million population resided only on three islands, Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
  6. Montserrat's interesting national dish: Goat water is known to be the national dish of Montserrat. The stew, popularly known as 'Goat Water', is prepared from the meat of a male goat and mixed with lots of spices and rum. The delicacy is mostly served at special events.
