Saint Lucia: Minister Virginia Poyotte suffers medical emergency, hospitalized
Tuesday, 20th February 2024
The Government of Saint Lucia shared a public statement regarding her medical emergency.
Little to no details have been shared with the public about the specificities, however many are concerned since the official statement stated that “Jeremiah Norbert will adopt her Ministerial responsibilities until further notice.”
The official statement from the Office of the Prime Minister in Saint Lucia only mentioned that she experienced a "medical emergency" and is undergoing treatment. No further details about her specific condition or its severity have been released.
The official statement says
“On Monday, February 19, 2024, Minister for Home Affairs, Hon. Dr. Virginia Albert-Poyotte, experienced a medical emergency. A medical response was initiated and the Minister was transported to a medical institution for treatment. We hope for a speedy recovery and encourage the public to keep her in their prayers during this time. Hon. Jeremiah Norbert will adopt her Ministerial responsibilities until further notice. Further updates on Hon. Dr. Virginia Albert-Poyotte’s condition will be provided at the appropriate time.”It's best to trust that healthcare professionals are providing her with the necessary care and that official updates will be made when appropriate.
Speculating about the nature of her health or diagnosing her based on the very limited information provided to the public by the government can be inaccurate and disrespectful.
Focusing on her established accomplishments and wishing her well during her time of need is a far more constructive approach.
It is expected that the government will provide a public statement as soon as there is further development in Poyotte’s health.Latest
