PM Rowley virtually talks to US Congresswoman Maxine Waters

After testing positive for COVID-19, Prime Minister Keith Rowley is currently in isolation under the medical supervision of doctors .

After testing positive for COVID-19, Prime Minister Keith Rowley is currently in isolation under the medical supervision of doctors and nurses in Tobago, the PMO announced on Wednesday.

He was also taken to Scarborough General Hospital at Signal Hill for an MRI examination to monitor his lung functions. The assigned team of doctors returned him back to the official Residence at Blenheim after the medical check-ups.

PM Rowley is being monitored and cared for by the staff of the Tobago Regional Health Authority. It also added that PM Dr Rowley's vital signs are all stable, and he remains in good spirits.

The Prime Minister, also functioning in his role as Chairman of CARICOM, continued his talks with US Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Chairwoman of the House Committee on Financial Services, via a conference call on Wednesday afternoon.

The virtual meeting was a follow up to discussions held on March 25, 2021, which focussed on several issues of mutual interest.

The Prime Minister is expected to virtually meet with Maarten Wetselaar, Director Integrated Gas, Renewables and Energy Solutions, Shell Global and Eugene Okpere, President and Country Chair, Shell Trinidad and Tobago, today.

Minister of Energy and Energy Industries Senator Franklin Khan and Minister of National Security Stuart Young are also expected to attend.

Besides this, Dr Rowley's family thanked all those who have expressed "get well-wishes" and continue to pray for his wellbeing.

Nevertheless, after facing flu-like symptoms on Monday, Prime Minister was tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday. Following the positive results, he immediately quarantined himself under medical supervision.

The 71-year-old is currently out of danger; however, doctors are making sure his oxygen levels remains in control.

Trinidad and Tobago. recently received vaccines from the COVAX facilities; the doses are expected to assist the country in running its immunization drive for health workers, frontline workers and people over the age of 60.
