The Dominica Carnival brings together French and African traditions which are part of the rich culture heritage of the island.

The Carnival is also one of the few carnivals in the region, which takes place right before Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of the Lenten Season.

The celebrations spread over two months and include village festivals, calypso shows, stardom tents, pageants and street parades, highlighting the cultural elements of the Caribbean culture.

The main Carnival begins on Monday with J'ouvert morning and runs through Tuesday night and concludes with a burial ritual on Ash Wednesday.

As the Mas Domnik began in Dominica with Carnival Monday, citizens and residents flooded the social media with various images with several people lauding the Prime Minister and his wife for taking time out to relax and enjoying with other residents.
