PM Harris discussing St Kitts-Nevis issues in NYC
Post-hurricane recovery and geothermal energy on the agenda

The prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis has been in New York City, taking part in the CARICOM-United Nations High-Level Pledging Conference.
The event has been organised with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the theme “Building a More Climate Resilient Community”.
On the sidelines of the conference, WIC News understands that Timothy Harris held a productive meeting with Neven Mimica, the Commissioner in charge of International Cooperation and Development at the European Commission.The European Commission is the principal executive body of the European Union (EU).
Harris and Mimica discussed cooperation on post-Hurricanes Irma and Maria recovery and reconstruction efforts, as well as geothermal energy development.
Earlier this week Mimica and Warren Smith, the president of the Caribbean Development Bank, announced the formalisation of a grant contribution by the European Union to the Geothermal Risk Mitigation Programme for the Eastern Caribbean.
The project aims to develop up to 60 megawatts of geothermal energy capacity in Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
