PM Drew holds productive meeting with Didier Trebucq, discusses collaboration with UN

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, on Tuesday, had a significant meeting with the United Nations Resident Coordinator (UNRC) for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Didier Trebucq.

During the meeting, both of them discussed the collaboration between the United Nations and St Kitts and Nevis. They also talked about the development of a new UN Country Implementation Plan for the upcoming two years. Several other significant topics were discussed during the meeting with PM Drew, expressing that such meetings will surely yield fruitful results.

This significant meeting was joined by Naeemah Hazel, the Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office, and Bjorn Hazel, Senior Foreign Service Officer, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Meanwhile, UN Resident Coordinator Trebucq was accompanied by Cosbert Woods, the UN Country Coordinator for St Kitts and Nevis, and Uzumma Erume, an Economist and Development Coordination Unit Officer at the UN Resident Coordinator's Office.

Trebucq is currently visiting the Federation on a mission to strengthen partnerships with the government and people of St Kitts and Nevis, increase the visibility of the UN in the country and engage non-governmental stakeholders to renew partnerships and build new avenues for collaboration for sustainable development in the Federation.

This is not the first time that Didier Trebucq has paid a courtesy call to PM Drew. Last time he visited the island in October 2022.

Trebucq has always shown his commitment towards the Caribbean region and wants to expand the UN's assistance across the region so that small island nations like St Kitts and Nevis can benefit from various programmes of the United Nations.

The meeting also signifies the increased collaboration between the United Nations and the Twin Island Nations, showing that the Federation is working and is dedicated to upholding international relations.

Notably, there are several UN-sponsored programmes and projects that are ongoing in St Kitts and Nevis, which shows the UN's commitment towards this island nation.
