PM Browne offers financial aid to Antiguan footballer Peter Radz for knee surgery

The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne, has come to the forefront and extended his support to the national football player Tevaugh Peter Radz Hariette who sustained injuries and had to undergo emergency knee surgery.

The player is all set to travel to Barcelona, Spain where the surgery will be performed by Dr Raymond Cugat.

The former national striker Peter Redz was seeking support for urgent meniscus replacement surgery on the right knee.

While speaking on Pointe FM, PM, Browne said that he had been working with him and may have to ask him to come back and see me. He added that he would have given instructions to the treasury, and in fact, he was also involved in a company in which he owed him some money and had asked the treasury to help him.

The Prime Minister said that he acknowledges the challenges which Hariette might be facing because of the cash flow issues. Furthermore, he noted that he know that the cash flows have not been that strong and he was also aware that he has been getting payments.

Additionally, the PM stated that is was not too sure in what quantum but he will get his secretary to call him in and look precisely how much money he has had.

The immense contributions of Tevaugh Peter Radz Hariette towards football and his standing as a national athlete have attracted widespread support, and efforts to assist him during his recovery are being coordinated at a huge level.

It is to be noted that the surgery is to address an injury that the player sustained in 2018 and costs a total of $159,744.72 ECD for travel, surgery and related expenses.

Meanwhile, several other citizens, residents, and organisations have come forward to help the player and are looking forward to a successful surgery.
