Goodwill Secondary School rehabilitation continues rapidly, PM Skerrit shares glimpses

As the work on the new Goodwill Secondary School continues at a rapid pace, Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit shares the latest glimpses of the construction site. The work on the site began on November 13 while the ground was broken on September 6 last year.
While sharing the update through its official social media accounts, PM Skerrit said, “Work is ongoing at the site of the new Goodwill Secondary School. Here are a few latest pics!”. He also added the hashtag Dynamic Dominica highlighting that the country is continuously moving on the path of development.The latest glimpses shows the structure completely demolished with the land being levelled for setting up the new structure of the GSS.

The construction is being done under the Government of Dominica in collaboration with the People’s Republic of China. Once completed, the GSS will serve as the Center of Excellence for Technical Vocational Education and Training.
The government has hired a contracting company – the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation who demolished the existing structure and will transform it into a modern facility.The new Center of Excellence will comprise of several modern facilities including food preparation, electricity and electrical installations, fabric design, technical drawing, garment production, auto mechanics, visual and performing arts, industrial arts as well as refrigeration and air conditioning.
It is to be noted that several local workers of Dominica have also been employed in the pre construction phase of the Goodwill Secondary School with more employment opportunities awaiting as the project progresses.
In addition to this, the new Goodwill Secondary School is among the six schools in Dominica being built under the China Aid Project. This project works to reconstruct the school post Hurricane Maria which caused a major havoc in 2017 and destroyed several infrastructure on the island nation. The government of China is funding the construction of six schools including the Calibishie, Sineku, Bellevue Chopin, Goodwill, Thibaud and Tete Morne Primary Schools.Latest
