Gertrude Roberts, former minister, laid to rest accorded with an official funeral

In respect of former government minister Gertrude Roberts, an official day of mourning was declared on Saturday. Roberts was accorded an official funeral held at the Grand Fond Roman Catholic Church this morning.

In respect of former government minister Gertrude Roberts, an official day of mourning was declared on Saturday.

Roberts was accorded an official funeral held at the Grand Fond Roman Catholic Church this morning.

On all public buildings in the state, the Dominican flag was flown at half-staff as a mark of respect to Roberts.

Gertrude Roberts served as Minister of Community Development and Women's Affairs from 1995 to 2000. Roberts was elected Parliamentary Representative for the MorneJaune/ RiviereCyrique Constituency in the 1990 general elections.

She attended the Delices Primary School. In the year 1952, She received her Teacher's Certificate and was appointed Qualified Assistant Teacher and assigned to the Grand Fond Primary School.

Apart from studies, Gertrude Roberts was deeply engaged in community life. Roberts served as Choir Director of the St. Alphonsus Senior Choir and Coordinator of the National Council of Women.

Gertrude Roberts was born on September 16, 1930, and passed away on November 6, 2019.

She was 92 and was survived by her six children.

The late Gertrude Roberts was laid to rest at the Rosalie Roman Catholic Cemetery.
