Drive with due care and attention on Nevis roads, urges Minister Brand

Claiming that Nevis Island administration is continuously caring out development works to improve the road network on the island, Minister of Communications and Works Spencer Brand said urged motorists to pay particular attention to "exercise due care and attention".

On August 20, Brand visited Chicken Stone in Gingerland to see an improved junction undertaken by the Public Works Department at the intersection with the Island Main Road.

During his visit, he appealed to the general public to kindly drive with due care and attention on the roads of Nevis Island. He said the ministry would seek to improve the necessary safety measures and he himself strongly believe that it is incumbent on the motorists to drive with due attention and care. The minister said he wants to appeal to the motorists to do so wherever they may be on the roads because they may save a life and the life they save may be their very own.

Giving assurance that Island's administration will continue to develop road network of the Island in the interest of public safety Brand said they will continue to play their part in improving the necessary blind spots throughout the length and breadth of Nevis.

“One such area that we have undertaken to improve the blind spot and to make it a lot more safer is in the Cotton Ground to Cliff Dwellers road project where we would have decided to change the intersection to the lower section of Cotton Ground. That is one area and we intend to undertake more improvement in other areas throughout Nevis,” he said.
