Commonwealth of Dominica is fully prepared for the hurricane season as the nation was devastated twice with category five natural catastrophes.
After causing damage to 90 percent of the infrastructure of the country, the government under the administration of the Dominica Labour Party initiated its goal of becoming the world's first climate-resilient nation.
The country lost 226% of its GDP in the night Maria devastated the nation.
Under this, the government is building climate-resilient homes that are distributed free of any cost to the people who lost their homes in 2017 Hurricane Maria. The housing revolution is fully-funded by the island's Citizenship by Investment Programme (CBIP).
Montreal Management is assisting the government in achieving its plan of building more than seven thousand climate-resilient homes.
The government will give over 150 homes before the hurricane season starts in the coming two weeks.
Moreover, Dominica has successfully managed to get rid of the COVID-19, the nation now has no coronavirus patients as all the sixteen infected individuals have recovered from the deadly disease.
Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit stated that the country has eliminated the virus because of the hard work of health workers and corporation of the people of Dominica.
The government has even started the reconstruction of the much-awaited Marigot hospital, which was reportedly demolished because of its unsafe structure.
The construction of Marigot hospital was a critical issue when the country went into the election in December 2019. The Dominica Labour Party had manifested to build the hospital, which is now under development.
This hospital will provide advanced health-care facilities to people living in and around the Marigot area, which is more than an hour drive from the capital city of Roseau.
In September 2019, Dominica-China friendship hospital was inaugurated by the government. The hospital is claimed to be equipped with incredibly advanced amenities, and people are no longer require to travel neighbouring countries to get their MRI's or other tests done.
