Local Antiguan TV's Deep Blue movie to be played at Pan African Film Fest in LA

Antigua and Barbuda: Deep Blue- A film by Antigua and Barbuda's premiere film and television production company HaMafilms is accepted to be broadcast at the 32nd annual Pan African Film and Arts Festival (PAFF) in Los Angeles. It is the first film based in Antigua and Barbuda to debut at the PAFF. This is also a major milestone for HaMafilms as they will be having screenings at two different days, at the festival including on February 12 and February 17. The Producer of the film Mitzi Allen expressed his excitement over getting two screening slots during PAFF. He said that the whole team is filled with excitement to witness the movie being selected for the festival. Notably, the Pan African Film and Arts Festival is the world's largest Black Film and Arts Festival and is hosted during the Black History Month activity in the United States. Established 31 years ago by Hollywood Veteran Danny Glover and the fest has now become an international beacon for the African diaspora film and arts communities to share stories of their Black experience. In addition to this, the Reggae Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda, Causion, who also appeared in the film was also delighted over the development. He said that he was glad that this film is going places and it also shows that Antigua and Barbuda is going places displaying the island's music and talent. The director of the film Howard Allen explained the concept of the movie and said that it highlights several issues faced by people throughout the developing nations of the world, particularly within the African diaspora. Allen also said that he was very proud that Deep Blue is among the official films to be screened during the Pan African Film Festival 2024. "This is the premiere film festival for the African and American and diasporic cinema," he added.
