Dominica PM Roosevelt Skerrit arrives in Guyana for 46th CARICOM meeting
Notably, PM Skerrit served as the Chairman of the CARICOM from July to December 2023 following which the position was held by Guyanese President Dr Ali on January 1, 2024.

Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, arrived in Guyana on Saturday for the 46th Regular Meeting of the Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government. He received a warm welcome by the Guyanese officials at the airport and was welcomed with a guard of honour by the Guyana Police Force and military band.
Through a Facebook post, PM Skerrit shared glimpses as he touched down at the airport in Guyana. He said that the significant meeting will open on Sunday at the National Cultural Centre, Georgetown and will run until February 28 under the Chairmanship of President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali. During his six-month tenure, PM Skerrit highlighted Dominica’s emerging prominence in Caribbean affairs and made a strong commitment to boosting CARICOM’s strategic priorities. He also co-chaired the inaugural Canada-CARICOM summit alongside Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in October 2023.In addition to this, during the upcoming meeting in Guyana, PM Skerrit highlighted that key issues of great importance to the region will be discussed. He will also address the Opening Ceremony of the 46th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM.
The meeting is anticipated to focus on regional food and nutrition security, climate change, developments in regional transportation and much more.
