Dominica: Oxford Coronavirus vaccine to land today
Prime Minister of Dominica Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit declared that the coronavirus vaccination is anticipated to land in Dominica on Tuesday for 35000 individuals.

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of Dominica Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit declared that the Oxford coronavirus vaccination is anticipated to land in Dominica on Tuesday for 35000 individuals.
During a press conference in Roseau on Monday, the prime minister declared that the vaccination would be handed over to the health ministry immediately after it arrives.
He added that he would also be getting himself vaccinated; however, he declared not to break any queue and wait for his turn for immunization.
The Prime Minister stated that over 70,000 doses for Covishield (the local name for the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine developed in the UK) vaccination are coming from India, which would be used to immunize 35,000 people as each person will get two jabs.
As per Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, getting vaccination would be a choice for individuals, and the government will not be imposing anything on people. He noted that any person who is willing to get the shots must get it done.
"It is a voluntary offering, and it is not mandatory. Those who wish to take it to contact their health authorities." added the Dominican Prime Minister.
Dominica's ministry of health is expected to inform the public about the first categories eligible for getting the vaccination before others on a priority basis, stated Dr. Skerrit.
Furthermore, Prime Minister stated that the government has been working with bilateral and multilateral relations to ensure that Dominicans get sufficient coronavirus vaccination.
He noted that COVAX and PAHO would also provide Dominica vaccination for the 20% population.
PM Skerrit stated that getting vaccinated might become mandatory to visit some countries in the future as all are attempting to ensure to safeguard their citizens from the contagious disease.
He also advised people to beware of the conspiracy theories and stated advised people not to trust any social media content without fact-checking.
