Bajan blogger Babbzy advises foreigners against Trinidad Carnival 2024 due to rising crime

Trinidad and Tobago: Bajan blogger 'Babbzy' advised foreigners about visiting Trinidad and Tobago for the Carnival, which is ongoing until February 18, 2024.

She said, 'Safety is a huge concern right now in the country. No one is safe in the Port of Spain'.

The young female also mentioned that she would not attend the Carnival this year as she does not feel safe.

"I would pass on Trinidad Carnival this year. I need you all to live long and prosperous. I feel like I am stabbing myself by saying this. But folks. I would pass on this year," she quoted.

The blogger said that she does not want to impact Trinidad Carnival by any means, but she can't be dishonest and not say that safety is a huge concern right now.

The Carnival began on Saturday, December 30, 2023, with the T.R.I.B.E event. Every year, hundreds and thousands of foreigners visit the island nation for this highly anticipated carnival that features a number of events showcasing the island nation's culture and traditions. Khaleesi Babbzy is an expert on all things in the Caribbean, specialising in music, culture and entertainment.

She said that over the last two weeks, she has been asked this question over and over again, "Babbzy, is Trinidad Carnival safe for me to travel to?" to which she replied that two weeks ago, she would have said yes.

While explaining the situation, Babbzy said that it hurts her heart and soul to say what she really feels about the country and said that anyone who knows her knows that she wears the Trinidad and Tobago flag on her sleeve.

"When you say Babbzy, you have to say Trinidad and Tobago, my 2nd home. My 2nd love in life. I even tell people I am from Maraval as a joke," she outlined.

She said that there had been a crime in Trinidad for a while now and added that in recent events where Trinidad artists and gang members have been in a serious rivalry, Port of Spain are not safe.

"These men will roll up on each other anywhere they get the chance to. Large events, small events, it doesn't matter. The violence is ON SIGHT," Babbzy stressed.
