The Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association has released the list of players shortlisted for the upcoming National Sports Awards. The National Sports 2024 event will be held on March 2 at the St George Pentecostal Church. It will be organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Education, Sports and the Creative Industries. As per the information, these nominees will be selected under the six award title categories. These categories include Sportsman of the Year, Junior Sportsman of the Year, Junior Sports Woman of the Year, etc.  These players will be recognised and awarded among the Nation's top athletes, officials, administrators, and the directorship of its President, Michael Freeland. They will be awarded in their respective categories for presenting their high-level performances and continued commitment towards their deep passion for sports and the Nation. The Shortlisted players for the Antigua and Barbuda National Sports Awards 2024 are:
  • Sportsman of the Year- Adonis Humphreys
  • Junior Sportsman of the Year- Craig Massiah
  • Junior Sportswoman of the Year- Kinisha James
  • Coach of the Year- George Hughes
  • Official of the Year- Cedric ‘Supa’ David
  • Sports Administrator of the Year- Carlena Knight
Notably, the 28-year-old Adonis Humphreys is an Antiguan National Basketball Player. Since the earlier phase of his life, he has consistently represented himself and his community at the various national and International levels. He was graduated from the Southwestern Illinois Community. Craig Massiah is a junior category basketball player representing his Princess Margaret School and is one of the great players in the junior category of the Antigua and Barbuda basketball teams. In 2022, the player presented a heavy victory to his team against Antigua Grammer School by defeating Kjade Martin (Opponent player), concluding his game at 8-7. Kinisha James is also a junior-level national basketball player from the All Saints Secondary School in Antigua. In February 2022, Her dominant performance against High School Girls, the former Basketball Champion, led her team to emerge victorious during the opening Basketball League, securing 12 points for her team.
