We aim to have highest rate of inoculation in the world: PM Roosevelt Skerrit
Prime Minister of Dominica Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit stated during the Sinopharm vaccine handover ceremony that the country aims to have one of the highest rates of inoculation in the world.

He stated that th4e additional 20,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine from the People's Republic of China would assist the ongoing efforts of Dominica in achieving its immunization goals.
Prime Minister stated that Dominica has managed to control the spread of the pandemic on its shores."We stand tall and proud that our tiny 267 square mile island because we are well on track to vaccinate up to 70 percent of its adult population by the end of this summer," stated PM Roosevelt Skerrit.
He stated that Dominica's neighbors in Latin America, Chile, according to Oxford University, now have the fifth-highest vaccination rate per capita in the world, using almost exclusively the Sinopharm vaccine.
He also talked about vaccine equity and stated all states, regions whether rich or poor, should be given access to coronavirus vaccine.
"Just as the spread of the virus could not be contained within individual borders, there is no nationalistic solution to the beating it back."
PM Skerrit stated that China’s Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine could be stored in standard refrigerators, which makes it an attractive option to countries such as ours, as they do not require the type of ultra-cold storage needs of some of the others.Besides this, PM Roosevelt Skerrit applauded China's support during the pandemic and stated that Dominica would not have been so successful in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic without aid from the People's Republic of China.
Using metaphors, PM Skerrit stated that he now sees the light at the end of the tunnel.
Melissa Skerrit, the wife of PM Roosevelt Skerrit, became the first receiver of the Sinopharm vaccine in Dominica. She was joined by the Minister of Public Works and the Digital Economy Cassani Laville.
