210 locals employed at World's Longest Cable Car Project in Dominica: Tourism Ministry
Dominica will soon have a new visitor experience for tourists at Boling Lake. The new ropeway connects the second largest thermal spring in the world, which previously could only be reached by a 7-hour hike, in just under 20 minutes.

As the work on the world's longest cable car moves rapidly in Dominica, the Tourism Ministry announced that the project has provided employment to over 200 locals.
Dominica will soon have a new visitor experience for tourists at Boiling Lake. The new ropeway connects the second largest thermal spring in the world, which previously could only be reached by a 7-hour hike, in just under 20 minutes.Through a Facebook post, the Ministry not only shared glimpses of the ongoing project but also announced this significant development.
"210 locals have been employed and are working hard on Dominica's Cable Car Project, which shall be the longest cable car in the world," outlined the Ministry. Tourism Minister of Dominica Denise Charles spearheaded a site visit last Wednesday with the Cabinet Sub-Ministerial Committee, who were pleased with the progress. According to the updates from Minister Charles, the project is anticipated to be completed by December 2025. She also lauded outdoor engineers for their outstanding work, passion for the environment, and social projects that uplift the lives of the people in Roseau Valley.
This major project which is anticipated to transform the tourism sector of the country and will give it a major boost was unveiled in January 2022. The length of the cable car will span a total of 6.6 km.
It will take travellers from the Capital City, Roseau, to the second-largest hot spring in the world - the Boiling Lake of Dominica.The construction is expected to increase the number of tourists to the island nation significantly and make Boiling Lake one of the most prominent tourist spots in Dominica. It is because now the individuals who are unable to hike can enjoy the breathtaking view from the top by taking a short journey of 20 minutes through the cable car.
Day visitors will soon have the opportunity to visit this unique destination in the national park in comfort and without barriers.
According to the reports, the ropeway will be the longest mono cable detachable gondola ropeway in the world and can transport up to 1,000 people per hour and direction.

In addition to this, the project will continue providing employment even after completion, with local vendors getting opportunities to sell their products at the restaurants, food courts and eateries at the bottom station.
The work on this multi-million project is ongoing at a good pace, which is why the Tourism Ministry anticipates its completion within time.
