Barbados remove COVID-19 testing requirements for travellers

Barbados government has declared that vaccinated visitors to the island will no longer be required to submit a negative COVID-19 test for entrance as of Wednesday, May 25. Prime Minister Mia Mottley said at a press conference on Saturday that the administration was confident in recognising the decreased trend of COVID-19 cases. "As a result, the Ministry of Health has informed me that any those who have been vaccinated and are visiting Barbados will no longer be required to present any test results. As a result, we are no longer testing vaccinated passengers entering Barbados. Passengers who have not been immunised must still test," she said. "While wearing a mask outside will become optional, masks will still be mandatory indoors and on public transportation. If you're drinking or conversing, you're probably aware that you remove your masks indoors to facilitate those activities," she stated. "You don't have to question what the government will do if another version reveals up that causes us concern; we'll put the brakes on again. At this point in time, everything is heading in the correct direction, which allows us to be cautiously optimistic and make the necessary modifications." Prime Minister stated that the policy of wearing masks in classrooms has not changed. However, the Prime Minister stated that if a new strain of the disease emerged, steps to reduce infection rates would be reintroduced.
