Renowned lawyer and former candidate of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party Dwyer Astaphan said that Prime Minister Terrance Drew has the potential to become a great leader. In a recent radio address, he said that the newly elected PM has a vision and leading the country on the path of development.

As per Astapha, in the last three months of his assuming office as the Prime Minister, Terrance Drew has brought several positive changes which have contributed to the country's overall development. "A great leader is someone who has vision, someone who follows that vision and who shows the way for others towards that vision, someone who inspires, motivates and energizes people to dream, learn and to do more," said Astaphan while referring to Prime Minister Drew in his address.

"A great leader is strong in mind, character, conviction, conscience, compassion and humility and having said that, I believe that Dr Terrance Michael Drew has the potential to be a great leader," he emphasized.

Astaphan said that Prime Minister Terrance Drew must be better and different from all his predecessors.

The former minister highlighted that to become a great leader, Dr Drew will have to ensure that his top priorities are a true people's democracy and constitutional, social, attitudinal, and cultural change, so we can create the democratic mechanism that suits us. "He has to lead us to nationhood. We are already a nation, but to nationhood on the foundation of solid values, a group of people living on a land with a flag with no values and direction is not a nation. They're not even a group. They're just people. He has to do something about that if he's to achieve greatness. In material terms, he has to build the country physically for climate resiliency, energy, food and water security," added Dwyer Astaphan.

According to him, the last three prime ministers of St Kitts and Nevis failed to make the country great, which is why they cannot have greatness bestowed upon them by the citizens.

He believes that Dr Terrance Drew is young and can thus lead St Kitts and Nevis towards growth and success. Astaphan added, "If our prime minister, our beloved young Dr Terrence Michael Drew, is to achieve greatness, he has to search ahead as a regional figure and become a voice and face of vision, reason, conscience and progressiveness globally. He has to be in the front of the effort to bring pride, honour and respect to us and our region."

"This has to be done so that we can forge partnerships with other so-called third world countries and regions to the what all powers have failed to do, which is to empower us and to make our world safer, healthier, more sustainable, loving, compassionate, peaceful and safer. I know this is asking a lot of Dr Drew, but I believe he has it in him," concluded the former St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party candidate.
