At least four national intelligence agency officers and an assailant were killed and six people wounded after a suicide car bomb blast struck a military convoy in western Kabul on Tuesday, an Interior Ministry official said.
The blast hit the National Directorate for Security convoy as it was returning from an overnight operation in the Paghman district of Kabul, located in the northwest of the country's capital.
"It is still not clear whether the attacker was on foot or driving a vehicle," interior ministry spokesman Najib Danish added.
"A suicide car bombing targeted a National Directorate of Security (NDS) running convoy roughly at 9:20 a.m. local time in Bala Chinar area of Paghman district," an official familiar with the matter said.
The injured were also from NDS, the country's primary intelligence agency, the source said, adding that several military vehicles were also damaged in the attack.
There are also reports of high civilian casualties
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
The Afghan capital city has been hit by a series of terror attacks over the past couple of years.
