Friday, 10th January 2020

Sri Lanka will buy 500 means of transport from India for USD 15 million by using the credit extension reached out to it during President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's visit to New Delhi, authorities said on Friday.

The new transports for Sri Lanka Transport Board would be acquired to fortify the nation's open vehicle, as per a reminder endorsed by the Cabinet this week.

"The Cabinet of Ministers has given their assent for the acquisition of 400 new means of transport with 50–54 seating limit and 100 new means of transport with 32–35 seating limit using USD 15.03 million under the Indian credit award/plot," the reminder said.

Head administrator Narendra Modi in November reported a money related help of USD 450 million to Sri Lanka including USD 50 million to battle psychological oppression after he held "productive" converses with the island country's recently chosen President Rajapaksa.

In his first abroad visit after assuming control over the reins of Sri Lanka, Rajapaksa made a trip to India on a three-day tour.
