Saint Lucia: The seven delegates who are set to participate in the 2024 National Carnival Queen Pageant and their corporate sponsors were unveiled during a grand ceremony on Saturday evening. The development took place during the annual Sashing Ceremony held at Sandals Grande. The huge event was streamed live and gave the general public a chance to join in the excitement of the announcement. According to the information, the delegates and their assigned sponsors are as follows: Miss Windjammer Landing & Residences – Aeryn George Miss Bank of Saint Lucia – Anneka Thompson Miss Caribcation – Kadin Antoine Miss Caribbean Galaxy & Real Estate – Menella Sebaram Miss Bounty Rum – Shan Lucien Miss Pierre Marcel – Tunisia President Miss Duty Free Pointe Seraphine – Yaneil Joseph This year will be the 70th staging of the National Carnival Queen Pageant of Saint Lucia and in recognition of this, all delegates were sashed by Queens from past years.

During the event, the Chairperson of the Pageant Committee, Trevor King, spoke about the importance of paying homage to the queens. He said that this pageant in his opinion is the most beautiful part of the Carnival festival.

King further added that several women have paraded in dazzling gowns and exceptional costumes to celebrate cultural and national pride and their huge contributions to the vibrance of the festival for more than 70 years cannot go unnoticed.

He also thanked the eternally graceful and regal queens with some of the queens in attendance reigning as far back as 1973.

In addition to this, the Carnival Planning & Management Committee also recognised the contributions of Maria Monrose as she contributed a lot to the National Carnival Queen Show having served as the head of the planning committee for many years.

The local costume designer, talent coordinator and trainer, Sean Greaves and Massy Stores have sponsored the pageant for more than twenty years.

After the sashing ceremony, the delegates will now become ambassadors for their brands with sponsors arranging various sessions to give participants an insight into their business which also includes tours of their facilities.
