Royal Caribbean cruise-ships cancelling trips due to COVID-19

More cruises announced this week that they are canceling trips due to the coronavirus pandemic. Royal Caribbean will stop sailing until May 31, with the exemption of limited cruise ships in Singapore, China and Israel. Two other cruise lines maintained by the same parent group as Royal Caribbean - Celebrity and Silversea - also discontinue cruises through May 31, and another brand, Azamara, discontinues voyages until June 30. Virgin Voyages declared the third cruise to sail in 2020 The cruise-liner declared it is working with the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and other government agencies to prepare for service delivery. "Royal Caribbean Group remains to concentrate on the good and safe return to customers, team, and the areas we visit," the company stated in its report. The cruise-liner announced it would reach out to travelers booked on the trips in question. While U.S. voyages were interrupted, Royal Caribbean was able to resume certain voyages overseas. The cruise line's Quantum of the Seas began stopping three- and four-night "ocean road" rides from Singapore without stopping. Royal Caribbean's Odyssey of the Seas will also begin 'fully vaccinated' cruises from Israel to the Greek islands and Cyprus in May. And the Spectrum of the Seas and Voyager of the Seas will start sailing out of China next month. Travelers in nations where sailing has resumed will find improved health protocols, as developed by Royal Caribbean's Healthy Sail Panel. These include new sanitation procedures, COVID-19 testing, and the use of face masks. The Royal Caribbean brands are not the only sailing lines that cancel voyages in American waters or different parts of the globe. Carnival Corp. brands, including Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, and Seaborn, also declared this week that they are canceling more cruises this summer. Disney Cruise Line also suspended all departures until May and some until August.
