Lesotho's Prime Minister Thomas Thabane, 80, is to be accused of the murder of his estranged wife Lipolelo Thabane, police have said.
Thabane reported he would step down in July due to mature age, without remarking about the case.
His present spouse Maesaiah Thabane has just been accused of the homicide.
He would be the principal African pioneer to be accused of a household murder while in office, for a situation that has stunned the little mountain realm.
Apollo, 58, was shot dead two days before Thabane became a leader in 2017.
At that point, he portrayed her murdering as "silly" yet police currently blame him for being associated with her executing.
"The head administrator will be accused of the homicide," Deputy Commissioner of Police Paseka Mokete was cited by Reuters news organisation as saying.
"The police are planning orders, and he will most likely be charged tomorrow [Friday]," he included.
