Police in Iran have detained 230 young men and women at two separate parties in the capital Tehran.
Alcohol and dancing were involved at both, says the country’s ISNA news agency.
One party, where 140 were picked up by police, took place on the outskirts of the city while the other was in Tehran’s uptown area.
Drinking alcohol and mixed parties of unrelated men and women are illegal and considered a sin under Islamic law in Iran.
ISNA said some participants posted an invitation to others to join on Instagram and police arrested them.
The news agency also said some alcoholic beverages and psychotropic drugs were confiscated.
