Iran Airliner With 135 Passengers Overshoots Runway, Barrels Into Highway; No Casualties

Monday, 27th January 2020

An Iranian traveller plane overshot a runway as it landed Monday in the southwestern city of Bandar-e Mahshahr, barrelling into a contiguous interstate without causing setbacks, state TV revealed.

"Landing at Mahshahr air terminal, the pilot set down the aeroplane past the point of no return, and this made him miss the runway," the supporter cited the head of Khuzestan region's flying authority as saying.

This "made the aeroplane overshot the runway and stop in a road" alongside the air terminal, Mohammadreza Rezaeia said.

The McDonnell Douglas fly, having a place with Iran's Caspian Airlines, was flying from Tehran's Mehrabad Airport with 135 travellers in addition to the plane's team.

State TV announced that all were protected.

A state TV correspondent going on the plane told the telecaster that the aeroplane's "back wheel had severed, as we saw it was left on the runway" and said the aircraft had been moving without any wheels before it came to a standstill.

Iran's avionics authority said, "the reason for the occurrence is being examined".

The Islamic republic had been intending to redesign its frail armada after long-standing US sanctions were lifted after the 2015 atomic arrangement among Tehran and world forces.

Be that as it may, when US President Donald Trump pulled out of the agreement in 2018 and reimposed devastating monetary assents, the treasury office disavowed licenses for Boeing and Airbus to sell traveller planes to Iran.
