The one-hour long audio tape obtained by the Washington Post revealed Trump's conversation with a state official.

The conversation on Saturday was the latest step in an unusual effort by a sitting president to compel a state official to convert the outcome of a free and fair election that he lost.

The renewed attack and the persistent and lack of factual information claims of fraud by the first president to lose re-election in almost 30 years come nearly two weeks before Trump gives office and two days before twin rivers in Georgia that will decide control of the Senate.

In a tweet Sunday, Trump confirmed that he spoke with Georgia's secretary of state, Republican Brad Raffensperger, a day earlier.

Audio snippets of the conversation were also posted online by The Washington Post. The Associated Press later obtained a recording of the call from a person who was on the call.

The president, who has denied to accept his loss to the Democratic president-elect, is heard telling Raffensperger at one point.

"All I want to do is this. I just need to find 11,780 votes, which is one more important than we have. Because we won the state." stated Donald TrUMP- OUTGOING US president

Georgia certified voting returns showing that Biden won the state's Nov. 3 election by 11,779 votes.

The White House referred inquiries to Trump's reelection campaign, which did not respond Sunday to a request for comment.

Raffensperger's office did not respond to a text information-seeking comment.

Trump has frequently attacked how Raffensperger ran Georgia's elections, claiming without proof that the state's 16 electoral votes were wrongly given to Biden.

"He has no idea!" Trump tweeted about Raffensperger, saying the state official "was slow, or unable" to answer problems about a series of claims about ballot approach and voters that have been debunked or shot down by judges and election authorities.

Raffensperger's Twitter response: "Politely, President Trump: What you're saying is not true. The truth will come out."
