Doctor's thumbs up on Trump's mental health

Donald Trump asked for a cognitive test to be carried out as part of his first medical check-up as president, his physician has revealed.

Keen to put an end to rumours about his mental health, which peaked when he appeared to slur his words as he announced that the US would recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital last month, the 71-year-old asked Dr Ronny Jackson to carry out the assessment.

Speaking during the White House press briefing on Tuesday, Dr Jackson said the president scored a perfect 30/30.

"I've got to know him pretty well and I had absolutely no concerns about his cognitive ability."
