CSG Patricia Scotland meets India's EAM Dr S Jaishankar on sidelines of 19th NAM Summit

During her meeting she discussed ways to discuss ways to deepen the cooperation between India and the Commonwealth.

CSG Patricia Scotland meets India's EAM Dr S Jaishankar on sidelines of 19th NAM Summit

The Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland, felt extremely honoured to meet the External Affairs Minister of India, Dr S Jaishankar, on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Uganda. The event is being held on January 19 and 20.

During her meeting she discussed ways to discuss ways to deepen the cooperation between India and the Commonwealth.

She also lauded India's G20 presidency and thanked the country for recognising the Commonwealth's work with innovation during her meeting with S Jaishankar.

Through a post on X, CSG wrote, "I commended India's G20 presidency & thanked India for recognising our work with innovation & changemaker awards & announcing $10 million worth of scholarships for our youth."

Scotland looks forward to engaging with leaders on the economic & environmental challenges facing developing countries and how they can work together to build a fairer multilateral system that supports everyone equally.

Additionally, Dr Jaishankar is representing India at the 19th NAM Summit and is looking forward to engaging colleagues over the coming two days.

It is to be noted that CSG Scotland was on an official visit to India last week and engaged in several meetings and discussions with the Indian leaders.

Furthermore, she also received the inaugural Heartfulness Changemaker Award in India. This award recognises The Commonwealth's work to empower young people.

While expressing her deep honour to receive the prestigious award, Patricia Scotland said, "Grateful that Heartfulness has joined governments, institutions and citizens in celebrating our #YearOfYouth. We make change together."

The award was given to her at the Kanha Shanti Vanam, and it coincided with the launch of Youth Unite as well as the launch of the Global Heartfulness Essay Event in India in partnership with the Commonwealth.

She was recognised in Hyderabad by the Heartfulness Institute for her service to the education, growth & success of young people across the Commonwealth.

Notably, her visit began on January 13 with planting the millionth tree in Kanha while advocating that "Trees are the world's natural ventilators, and across the Commonwealth, we have the lungs of the world."
