As per reports, the gunman was also shot dead by police officials and is identified as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, who shot his grandmother before carrying out the heinous shooting at the Robb Elementary School.
Hours after the massacre, US President Joe Biden addressed the nation, calling for stricter gun controls."As a country, when in the name of God are we going to stand up to the gun lobby?" When are we going to do what needs to be done in the name of God?. How come you're willing to put up with this carnage?" said US President.
Since the attack, messages of sympathy, anguish, and outrage have poured in. The Texas school shooting elicited reactions from US leaders, members of Congress, and other famous Americans.
"Our society is frozen, not by fear, but by a gun lobby and a political party who have demonstrated no desire to act in any way that would assist prevent these tragedies nearly ten years after Sandy Hook — and ten days after Buffalo. Action, any form of action, is long overdue. And for families to have to wait another day is still another tragedy — although a quieter but no less painful one," said Former President Barack Obama
"Regardless of political affiliation, our elected officials at the local, state, and federal levels must find common-sense solutions to keep our children and communities safe. They can do so without jeopardising their freedom to hunt, sport shoot, and possess firearms for self-defence. For far too long, propaganda and paranoia have kept us from cooperating on this. We can and should do better. Now is the moment to act," Former President Bill Clinton.
