Castries,Saint Lucia :Massy Stores Saint Lucia Ltd. which recently revealed that it had been 'touched' by COVID-19, has shown concern over reports that the company's team members have become the victims of stigmatisation.
"It has come to our notice that Massy Stores staff in Saint Lucia are being stigmatised and discriminated against, based on the information that COVID-19 has touched our company" Managing Director, Martin Dorville, disclosed.
He stated that the Massy team is 'deeply saddened' over the development.
The Massy Managing Director stated that We do not aspire for anyone to be treated in that manner, more so the very persons who have put their lives and that of their families at danger to graciously do their jobs and serve you now and over the last gruelling nine months of this pandemic.
We pride ourselves on the crucial role we play in feeding the nation and have spared no effort in ensuring the safety of our operations," Dorville asserted.
He told that strict precautions were in place to be able to responsibly fulfil the company's role as a vital service provider, particularly at this time.
"We are greatly proud of and grateful to our team members who, in spite of their own worries and concerns about COVID-19, have over the last nine months, served Saint Lucia with distinction, enduring the psychological stress and navigating through some very, very challenging periods to come out and serve," the Massy official said.
He said the company's measures are in line by guidelines from the World Health Organisation and local health officials.
Dorville noted that Massy Stores works closely with and under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and continues to adjust its approach as necessary, to ensure that all its operations remain as low risk as reasonably possible.
