Another tests positive for COVID-19 in St Lucia, source of infection unknown

One more coronavirus patient is confirmed in St Lucia while the Ministry of Health is reaching out to trace all the people that came in contact with the recent case.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr Sharon Belmar George stated that the newly confirmed coronavirus patient is a 48-year-old male who reached out at a local respiratory clinic after the symptoms appeared.
As per the Chief Medical Officer, the patient is currently admitted in a respiratory hospital where he tested positive to PCR tests.The total toll of confirmed coronavirus cases in Saint Lucia is now 29.
Dr Sharon Belmar stated that the source of infection is unclear and investigations are undergoing.
The new confirmed patient had recently travelled in a minibus and all people who travelled from the 2H Castries-Vieux-Fort route via minibus M481 during the period Monday, September 28, 2020, to Friday, October 9, 2020 are requested to visit health clinics.
Dr Sharon stated that five Community Respiratory Clinics continue to be open to the people to aid anyone with respiratory indications and symptoms or any similar concerns.
Besides this, the 311 helpline hotline is also open daily from 7am to midnight to address the COVID-19 related concerns of people.
Furthermore, the Chief Medical Officer advised the people to follow all the mandatory health guidlines inlcuding wearing face masks, maintaining social distance and practicing hygience.
