Dr Denzil Douglas, Former Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis stated that his party is pleased that the outgoing Dr Timothy Harris has finally decided to follow the mandate of the constitution and dissolved the parliament.
Besides this, Dr Denzil Douglas condemned Dr Timothy Harris for making public announcements of dissolution twenty-four hours after taking action. "I find it extremely disrespectful that Mr Harris made his broadcast at 7 pm on Wednesday more than 24 hours after he claims that the dissolution became effective."
The former prime minister questioned about what else Dr Timothy Harris is hiding from the people of Federation.
Furthermore, he added that the announcement of the dissolution of the general assembly was long overdue since the last general elections were conducted on February 15, 2015.
"The five-year deadline of Team Unity government passed on February 15, 2020. This regime tried to find loopholes to go around the constitution," added Dr Douglas.
The leader stated that the constitution of St Kitts and Nevis had spoken loudly and it will speak again on August 11, 2020, when the final curtain would come down on this deceptive and miscreant regime.
Besides this, Dr Denzil Douglas stated that the past five years under the team unity government have been harsh on the people of the country. He stated that the five years were filled with nepotism, victimisation and corruption.
He also alleged the government members for enriching themselves and their family members by using the people's money.
Moreover, the former Prime Minister also blamed team unity for misusing the 'COVID-19' crisis for political gains.
He also stated that the government had failed to implement comprehensive and holistic plans to deal with the economic fallout of the country.
