St Kitts & Nevis Labour Party says, things changed after 2015 election loss, Douglas served exceptionally
St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party is moving ahead to what is believed to be the historic day in the Party's history. A new leader will be elected on November 28 from three candidates willing to head the 89-year-old Party.  The conference, held under the theme "Forward Together", falls just weeks before the Party's year-long 90th Anniversary celebrations, starting from January 1, 2022. In a press release on Tuesday, the Party said Dr Denzil Douglas served exceptionally as their Leader for 32 years, but things changed after the Party lost general elections in 2015. "It has been a long journey since the 2015 election loss. Since then, the SKNLP has proven its continued commitment to the Federation of St. Kitts-Nevis, its membership, and supporters by critically examining the Party's priorities and leadership," St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party wrote in a press release. Party said Dr Douglas was elected as Member of Parliament for Constituency #6 in 1989 and appointed Leader of the Opposition, a title he still holds today. He served in the capacity of Prime Minister of the Federation of St Kitts & Nevis from 1995 to 2010 after winning four consecutive elections.  St Kitts and Nevis party said it held several meetings, stakeholder sessions, and conferences, including a constitutional conference, to ensure that leadership fully understood the important issues of membership, supporters, and nation. Currently, three St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party members are in the race of becoming the party leader. The members include elected representative for Constituency #1, East Basseterre Dr Geoffrey Hanley, Former member of parliament and caretaker for Constituency #3 Konris Maynard and Chairman of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party and caretaker for Constituency #8, Dr Terrance Drew. Dr Denzil Douglas stepped down as the Leader of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party a month ago and called upon people to support Konaris Maynard.
