Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Timothy Harris has pledged $1000 support to unemployed residents of the country. He stated in the initial process of three months, the amount will remain the same. However, the government plans to increase the support after that time. He said his government cares for the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis, which is why it continues to announce such policies for the people.

"The government will provide financial support worth $1,000 per month to the unemployed citizens. We will keep the amount the same for the first three months, and after three months, it will be increased because we care," said Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris at the People Labour Party convention on March 27 2022.

The government, led by Team Unity, has been enacting policies to manage the country's skyrocketing cost of living, which worldwide events beyond its control have prompted. Residents of St Kitts and Nevis have suffered as a result of this.

On March 26, 2022, Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris attended the People's Labour Party's (PLP) sixth National Convention.

"The administration would shortly offer certain measures that would ease the inhabitants," PM said during his presentation to the Convention.

"Reduced gas costs at the pump and lower taxes on specific grocery goods are among the newly additional measures, which will help make living expenses more reasonable," he also added

The Prime Minister also indicated that income help would be provided to unemployed citizens of the country.

"We are going to extend the income support for people who continue to be unemployed—the $1,000 per month We said we'd do it for three months in the [2022] Budget, but we'll extend it for another three months to help you out because we care, and we'll keep an eye on the issue." he was reported as saying.
