The historic Kartarpur corridor opened, first batch of pilgrims to be received by Pakistani PM

India-Pakistan opened the historic Kartarpur Corridor on Saturday Morning. The Indian Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Indian side of the corridor.

The corridor is opened ahead of the 550th birth anniversary of Sikhism founder Guru Nanak Dev. The first batch of Indian pilgrims entered Pakistan through it on Saturday morning.

The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the batch of around 500 pilgrims to pay obeisance at the Darbar Sahib gurdwara after the opening of the Kartarpur corridor.

Modi said that the opening of the corridor and integrated check post (ICP) will bring joy to the people of the country.

Indian pilgrims in the first batch including the former Indian PM Dr. Manmohan Singh, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Singh Badal, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, and Navjot Singh Sidhu are to be received by the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan himself.

As per information, Pakistan will allow 5,000 Indian pilgrims daily to visit Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib.
