French police detained the 11 person on Sunday as officials investigated the killing of Samuel Paty, a history lecturer who was brutally killed by an alleged Islamist in an attack that surprised France.
So far no details of the eleventh detainee have been revealed in connection with the killing.
Four dear families of the attacker were arrested soon after the crime. Five more were later captured, including the father of a student at Paty’s school and friend of the student's father identified to the intelligence services, anti-terrorism prosecutor Jean-Francois Ricard proclaimed on Saturday.
A 10th individual was put in custody later on Saturday.
People have planned to tribute the deceased teacher. Satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, whose offices were attacked in a mass assassination five years ago, was with organisations composing a tribute to Paty in Paris in the afternoon.
The 47-year-old teacher was murdered on Friday outside his school in a Paris area by an 18-year-old assailant. The attacker, who was born in Russia of Chechen origin, was shot dead by police soon after the crime.
Beginning of this month, the teacher had explicated pictures of the Prophet Mohammad in a class on the liberty of expression, provoking several Muslim parents.
Muslims consider that any depiction of the Prophet is profane.
The government has called the assassination as a crime on the spirit of French values.
Prime Minister Jean Castex announced the government was operating on a plan to defend teachers from menaces. Paty had been the victim of an angry campaign on social media before the invasion.
“I want educators to understand that, after this disgraceful act, the entire nation is behind them,” Castex said to the Journal du Dimanche in an interview.
“This misfortune moves every one of us because, through this teacher, it is the Republic that was attacked.”
