Thompson said that it is estimated that around 15 maintenance and security workers at Porto Cupecoy survive to lose their jobs at the end of the month.
In September, workers from Porto Cupecoy made the connection with the union upon learning that they may suffer losing their jobs, through what they claim is a wrongful removal by the administration of the hotel. According to the workers, management told them that at the edge of November. They would no more be needed, and their contracts will be terminated.
As per the Thompson, Porto Cupecoy, the workers will be paid out, and this promise has been made by the administration through a letter., As per the knowledge, Porto Cupecoy has yet not filed a petition for release by the Labor Department. He reiterated that removing employees without following this vital procedure is against the law.
Many attempts to arrange a meeting with the management of Porto Cupecoy by WIFOL have not occurred successfully. All other forms of seeking to communicate with management, including letters sent, have not produced any response.
The union leader even revealed that a proposed Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) had been sent to management for their research; this as well has not earned any response from management.
Thompson stated that WIFOL will now demand, during the period of this week, a legal investigation of Porto Cupecoy at the Labor Department to threats of dismissal made to its workers.
