"We are here to solve real problems of real people" says PM Skerrit at CELAC Summit
Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit addressed the meeting of heads of states at Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in Mexico on Saturday.

During the speech, PM Skerrit said as he is the youngest leader in the routable discussion; thus, he shall be speaking on behalf of the youngsters of CELAC.
"We owe them (youngsters) a debt of commitment to formulate policies and programmes in order to elevate the current conditions," said PM Skerrit.
He said the CELAC was formed to create a space within the Caribbean and Latin America to address real problems of real people. He said the CELAC member countries face numerous challenges like climate change, unemployment, access to education for all, and poverty levels."I believe that among us in Latin America and the Caribbean, we can find solutions to the problems because we have the capacity," said PM Roosevelt Skerrit.
He said Latin America and the Caribbean have been in trouble before, "Our forefathers fought for independence, and we are now in a fight for the independence of our own society and independence of our own people by empowering them with the tools to survive as independent people,"Furthermore, he also commended the Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador for his leadership and reviving CELAC. He also thanked Cuba for its assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also gave gratitude to Venezuela. Prime Minister said despite challenges and sanctions, Venezuela reached out to Dominica with PPE kits and testing kits.
