PM Roosevelt Skerrit meets President Leon of Caribbean Development Bank
Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt SKerrit met Dr Hyginus ‘Gene’ Leon- the President of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), on Tuesday morning.

Dr Leon assumed office on May 4, 2021, and it was his first trip to Dominica, where he received a warm welcome.
Prime Minister Skerrit and the President of CDB discussed several topics, including the CDB’s recent endorsement of two major projects with funding from the UK Caribbean Infrastructure Fund (UKCIF). The funds will be administered by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).

Sharing details, Prime Minister explained that the rehabilitation of 11km of roadway between the Loubiere Bridge and Grand Bay would be financed with grant funding of US$32.9 million (EC$88. 8 million) from the Government of the United Kingdom; a Government of Dominica contribution of US$10.7 million (EC$28.8 million); and a CDB loan of US$5.5 million (EC$14.8 ) million to cover the construction of the Mitchum Bridge.

Prime Minister said that the UK Government grant of US$30.3 (EC$81.8 million) and the Government of Dominica and DOWASCO’s contribution of US$9.2 million (EC$24.8 million) would finance the Water Sector Strategic Development Project to improve the water supply and distribution infrastructure and upgrade the Jimmit wastewater system.The water project will benefit communities along the West Coast (Coulibistrie Intake), the Roseau Valley, Calibishie, and East Coast communities from Castle Bruce to Morne Jaune.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Skerrit extended sincere thanks to the United Kingdom Government for this very generous contribution to our national development.
