PM Roosevelt Skerrit hands over smart devices to primary school children

Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit distributed 55 smart devices to Tete Morne and Grand Bay Primary School students. During his address, he said the government asked the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC) to find solutions to reduce internet costs for households with students.
Under the affordable internet access initiative, he said students and their parents would get internet access for only $10/month.
PM Skerrit stated that the government earlier distributed education devices on a secondary school level and college levels. Now primary school students are being benefited from the promises of the Dominica Labour Party-led administration.
"By the end of November, every single primary school child in Dominica will have access to the smart education devices," stated Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.
Furthermore, he stated Dominica is finalizing the schedule with the government of Chima to construct the new Tete Morne School. He said the design is ready, and the aim is to build a modernized structure with dedicated facilities for teachers. He said if all goes well, the school will be ready by 2022.

Prime Minister said the distribution of devices at all primary schools would complete before Monday 25 October 2021. The prime minister asked the parents to support their children and learn new technology while attending online classes. He said parents were in a dilemma because of inability to afford smart devices to educate their children. But, with the government's assistance things are much easier.Giving advices, PM also asked parents not to watch netflix on the smart devices of their kids and let them attend virtual classes.
