Roseau, Dominica: The Dominican Police Forces shot dead Kian Alexander, the man who allegedly abducted a Kernisha Etienne- a 12-year-old girl from her home in Warner. As per reports, officials shot him, and he succumbed to injuries on Saturday evening. The police, on the other hand, have not reported finding the child.
The man was shot when the police were carrying out search operations in the Brookhill estate area, where the patrol team discovered Alexander armed with a cutlass which was about 3 feet long, prompting an action.
The Deputy Chief of Police, Lincoln Corbette, told the media that the police attempted to apprehend Kian Alexander, but he counter-attacked with the cutlass, following which the police shot him in the legs. Following that, an ambulance was called, but Alexander could not survive.
Police officials told the media that the accused revealed the possible whereabouts of the girl, and research operations had been intensified in the area.
On June 7, Alexander, a Belles resident who is reported to be mentally ill, abducted Kernisha Etienne from her house at 11:30 p.m. Alexander proceeded to the home of his uncle, Laurent Joseph Bruno, and attacked him with a cutlass, inflicting significant wounds to his head and face, before fleeing with the 12-year-old, according to the police.
Misca Bruno and Laurent Joseph Bruno, Etienne's adoptive parents, have remained hopeful throughout this experience that their daughter is still alive.
Some reports also show that Kerisha Etienne's biological mother, Catherine Kacy Alexis, had also gone missing in 2012. It is not clear whether her disappearance has anything to do with the abduction of the 12-year-old.
The entire incident had left everyone outraged, with hundreds of people volunteering to find the girl. The search had been going on for over two weeks, but the police are yet to find the girl.
