Roseau, Dominica: In a significant political development, the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica and the Kingdom of Morocco have inked a roadmap for cooperation, which would bolster the diplomatic ties. The official document was signed by Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit and Morocco's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation – Nasser Bourita.
The Dominican Prime Minister is on an official visit to Dakhla, a city in Morocco. He also inaugurated a general consulate on behalf of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) in Northern African countries.
After signing the roadmap, the Governments of both countries optimized to boost the bilateral exchanges between Morocco and six Eastern Caribbean States. The nation has also termed it a "great opportunity."

PM Skerrit was quoted as, "I am pleased to be here in Dakhla to inaugurate the embassy and exchange views on the bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Commonwealth of Dominica." "I want to announce to you all that the citizens of the Kingdom of Morocco, that the relationship between Dominica and Morocco is strong, sincere, and committed that you will find nowhere else in the world. We value the leadership of the King very much, especially in dealing with so many global challenges," Prime Minister further added. The Dominican Leader further praised King Mohamed VI for being vocal about climate change, migration, access to education, and economic prosperity. He outlined that the opening of the consulate in Dakhla is the manifestation of the strong relationship that exists between the OECS and the Kingdom of Morocco. PM Skerrit further reaffirmed a royal vision of the island country towards other countries in the Caribbean region. He further took Twitter and underlined, "The significant and promising diplomatic presence will certainly represent a great opportunity to boost further bilateral exchanges between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Eastern Caribbean States." Prime Minister stated that the nation has the vision to uphold stability and security in the region through tangible social-economic projects. PM Skerrit further that the Government will provide full support for the Moroccan autonomy plan as the unique basis for consensual political resolutions to this regional dispute. Prime Minister stated, "Government of Dominica expressed its support to Morocco, including the Moroccan Sahara issue." He also reaffirmed the Government's recognition of the sovereignty of Morocco over its entire territory, including the Moroccan-Sahara. "This is a principal position taken by the Government of Commonwealth of Dominica because we believe that all must respect every country's sovereignty and its territorial integrity," added PM Skerrit during his address.Latest
