Dominica: Only fully vaccinated can attend public events, negative COVID report required for entry

Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit approved new protocols for special events islandwide, which can only be accessed by people who are fully vaccinated individuals. During Annou Pale on Sunday, PM also said the government is holding discussions to reopen schools, and the decision is still pending.

The government aims to prioritize a number of events scheduled between February 20 and March 1, 2022. The events will only be open to residents who have received two doses of a vaccine or one dose of a single dose vaccine.

Prime Minister stated that all major events would take place at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium Forecourt and the Old Mill Cultural Center. At the same time, the Windsor Park Sports Stadium Forecourt will function as the main event location, with seating for up to 500 people. The Old Mill Cultural Center will be approved for virtual events and will be able to accommodate up to 200 people.

"Events are planned at the Windsor Park Stadium Forecourt on February 28 and March 1. Both day events will be live, with a capacity of 500 people, and will be streamed online. The events will take place from 2pm to 8 pm. on both days," said PM Skerrit.

PM said all attendees must be properly vaccinated and also produce documentation of a negative antigen test up to 24 hours before the event.

The new criteria also indicate that each event would be limited to six hours in length and that each day will only have one event.

Prime Minister stated that event organizers could only issue tickets after the customer provides valid identification, contact information, and evidence of vaccination.

Without first applying for and receiving a permit, no street jump-ups, village carnivals, unauthorized gatherings of organizations and troops, or activities will be accepted. Approved activities are designed to be supervised events for vaccinated persons within a safe zone the general public's health and safety protocols.
