Writer of the Popular ‘Day-O’ and the Barbados National Anthem Dies at 95

A day before Barbados praised its 53rd commemoration of autonomy from British guideline, the man who composed the national song of devotion and helped artist Harry Belafonte advance calypso, kicked the bucket at 95 years old.
US media reports state Irving Burgie kicked the bucket last Friday in Brooklyn because of complexities from cardiovascular breakdown.
Head administrator Mia Mottley affirmed his going toward the beginning of her discourse at the yearly Independence march on Saturday and required a snapshot of quietness.
Burgie, who conceived in the United States, however, had a Barbadian mother, expounded on 35 melodies for artist Harry Belafonte, including the exemplary tune, 'Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)'.
