Trinidad and Tobago: Britanny ‘Brigitte’ Davis, an artist born in Trinidad, has made her birth nation proud after her art was featured on a billboard at Times Square in New York. The 26-year-old went over the moon after witnessing her own painting on the huge board.
Davis took to her official Instagram account to share picture of herself standing across the street from the billboard displaying her art piece. The piece was an homage to her Caribbean culture and heritage.
While sharing the pictures, she also remembered her heritage and said, “I was a little South Girl from TrinidadThen I moved to Americawhen I was 16 years old. And Now at 26 years old, My Art is on a Billboard in Times Square in Manhattan, New York.I love you God…Thank you God and Thank you ‘Art Space Innovations’ for this opportunity. I truly appreciate it.”
The artist’s expressionist-inspired piece had color blocking with a blend of neutral browns against a cool background.
The painting was of a female having warm notes of red, yellow and orange which stood out perfectly against the sky blue background. The blue and orange added more value to the piece as it demonstrated Trinidad and Tobago’s Caribbean heritage of a melding of several cultures.
